Dog Stubbornly Refused To Make Eye Contact With Anyone Until She Was Finally Loved By Someone

Mark Mason

Who we are today is mostly the result of our past experiences. Our past shaped us into the individuals we are now. It also influences our anxieties, desires, and even how we treat other people.

Imagine just what you would be like if you were raised in an atmosphere where you were subjected to physical and mental abuse. You would grow up wary of others and would possibly avoid them. You will also find it difficult to trust others.

In Texas, a dog named Miley was born in a dogfighting ring. As soon as she was old enough, she was forced to become a bait dog, which meant she was used to provoke the actual combat dogs. Miley’s mouth was constantly taped and her neck was encased in barbed wire.

Miley’s violent owner abandoned her on the side of a Texas road when she was about a year old and had suffered major injuries to one of her legs. Miley only had experience with human suffering, and she was scared of them.

An animal control officer discovered Miley and brought her to the local shelter. Miley’s wounded limb required amputation, so the animal control officer who rescued her posted a picture of Miley online to solicit donations. Fortunately, a woman named Amanda Holley spotted Miley’s photo and agreed to adopt her and pay for her therapy.

Miley avoided eye contact with everyone. She did nothing but stare outside her cage.

Amanda was aware that Miley’s previous owners had abused her and understood why she had difficulty trusting humans.

When Amanda gave Miley a plush hedgehog, Miley saw it as the greatest act of generosity she had ever received.

From that point forward, Miley would make eye contact with Amanda and even take her meds directly from her hands. Amanda could also afford Miley’s surgery, thanks to the generosity of others.

After her operation, Miley joined a foster family. Amanda maintained communication with Miley’s foster family.

However, when Miley’s foster family needed to relocate, they had to return Miley to Amanda. Amanda had no idea whether or not Miley would remember her, but when Miley saw her again, she became so excited that she really could not stop wagging her tail.

Miley is starting over in life and learning how to play with dog toys. She enjoys meeting new people and interacting with other dogs. Miley was able to regain her trust in humans as a result of her rescuers’ love and kindness.
