Dog With Cancer Is Given The Opportunity To Go On A Tour Of The Town On A Wagon

Mark Mason

Couple Allison and Joey Maxwell have been the owners of Maverick for over eight years. He was a tiny puppy when he joined them, and he rapidly became the focal point of their lives. And when Maverick reached senior status, the couple continued to see him as their cute puppy.

According to the two, Maverick enjoys receiving affection, which is not difficult to provide because he is easy to love. He is also so affable and nice that it is really impossible not to fall in love with him.

When they learned that his cancer had returned and there was nothing they could do, their world shattered. Nonetheless, this did not deter them.

At age nine, Maverick was diagnosed with lymphoma. They did not want him to give up without a fight, so they subjected him to chemotherapy and therapy. The cancer cells disappeared but returned with a vengeance.

After requiring a lengthy hospital stay, the doctors informed Joey and Allison that nothing else could be done at this time. As he had only a few days to live, they encouraged the couple to bring the dog back home and administer home care, which they did.

After arriving home, the couple had a discussion in which they decided not to linger, feeling wretched and anticipating the inevitable. They want to celebrate Maverick’s life and give him one last wonderful day.

At that time, the elderly dog was too ill and feeble to move on his own. Therefore, they bought him a large, pullable wagon. They were initially unable to find one that would fit him, but a store manager supported them in their search, and they were able to get the appropriate size.

Along with his memory foam and favorite toy, the dog was then placed in the wagon. Maverick ate dog-friendly ice cream and a hamburger while being hauled through the city in his wagon. Moreover, everyone came to pet him and show him loads of affection.

Amazingly, this small excursion made the dog feel so loved that, days later, he began to recover. His last days were prolonged to four months before he died peacefully in his sleep one evening.
