Rescuers Rush To Save A 15-Year-Old Dog Found In A Cemetery Late At Night

Rescuers Rush To Save A 15-Year-Old Dog Found In A Cemetery Late At Night

Mark Mason

It was around 10 at night when Hope for Paws, a not-for-profit rescue group in L.A, received a call about a senior dog found wandering in a cemetery. Despite the late hour, two of its head rescuers, Loreta and Eldad, headed out right away to save the dog. They rushed to the cemetery but the place was already closed for the night and they didn’t know how to get to the dog.

After a short while, the rescuers determined that the only way in was for them to go through a small opening in the fence. Fortunately, both rescuers managed to squeeze through the gap. Loreta then saw the dog nearby once she shone a light onto the sewer.

Loreta tossed a few bits of cheeseburger toward the dog. When she did, she noticed that it sniffed the food to find it. It was blind, she assumed, but she needed to confirm it first.

Gentle snare in hand, Loreta slowly but firmly stepped toward the dog. The animal felt her come close but it didn’t know where she was exactly. With the dog’s inability to see, Loreta expertly looped the snare on the dog’s neck.

With the dog finally secured, Eldad proceeded to climb out of the sewer. He asked Loreta to hand him the dog and then placed it in the crate at the back of their car. Later on, he went back to help Loreta get out of the cemetery.

Loreta didn’t think she’d be able to get out of the cemetery the same way she entered. She feared she might hurt herself in the process. Thankfully,  kind-hearted strangers walked by and helped pull her out. In no time, they were ready to leave the creepy graveyard.

Eldad and Loreta weren’t sure what was wrong with the dog but they agreed they needed to take it straight to the vet right away. On their way, they kept it comfortable and named it Cashmere.

The vets found out that Cashmere wasn’t completely blind but her eyesight was limited. They also estimated her to be around 15 years of age. She wasn’t too energetic because she was old but she was generally in good health.

After getting her clean bill of health, Cashmere enjoyed a refreshing bath. Cashmere is now under the care of Lionel’s Legacy Senior Dog Rescue. She enjoys living among her foster family and hopes that she’ll find her forever family soon.
