A horseback rider named Tracy recounted how a rescue dog assisted in her recovery from her injuries. She knew that falling is inevitable while horseback riding, but Tracy has become already used to them. One day, though, Tracy experienced a tumble unlike any other when she was thrown off her horse and she plummeted heavily to the ground.
As Tracy lay on the ground, she attempted to move but realized she was unable to move her legs. Tracy’s left and right pelvis were shattered, and her sacrum was fractured. Tracy’s injuries were so severe that she required months of bed rest and she needed a wheelchair to move around.
The fact that Tracy had to relearn how to walk was a humbling experience for her. Tracy and her husband had plans to purchase a home, adopt a dog, and have a kid, but those plans were put on pause.
Tracy, however, believed that life is so brief, so why should they wait until they adopted a dog? That is why they chose to adopt a dog from a nearby shelter.
Tracy wanted a dog that no one else wanted and spotted a black dog named Jack at the animal shelter. Jack was rescued from a car accident and underwent surgery, but his injuries were so severe that he lost a leg and an eye. When Tracy found out that the dog had also been involved in an accident just like she did, she decided to bring Jack home.
Jack is still a happy and goofy dog, and it appears that his limitations had no effect on him. Before Jack entered her life, Tracy was hesitant to go on regular walks, but now that he is a part of her life, she feels more at ease doing so. They would take daily walks which gradually progressed until Tracy could run again.
