There are a lot of videos on the internet showcasing the incredible herding skills of sheepdogs. However, it’s not just the videos with talented sheepdogs that become viral. Sometimes even dogs that are not good at herding get recognition too.
A sheepdog’s job is to lead sheep, lamb, or cattle into a designated space. Unfortunately, a Norfolk terrier named Nelson can’t perform this task properly. When Nelson starts approaching a herd of sheep, instead of him chasing them, he’ll be the one running away. It’s a hilarious reversal of roles.
There’s a video of Nelson running around in circles while being chased relentlessly by sheep. Seeing several sheep bouncing around while the dog runs in confusion is amusing. The sheep don’t seem to be taking him seriously as well; rather, the sheep see the activity as a game.
People who have seen Nelson’s video made some funny comments. One person said that Nelson is a leader, not a boss. At the same time, another commentator compares Nelson to someone lying on their resume about being fit for a job. There are also a number of commenters who were proud of Nelson for trying his best.
Despite Nelson’s obvious failure at herding, some people would argue otherwise. Some people say that he is reverse herding or, at the very least, still exerts influence on the sheep. Of course, many of these statements are aimed at seeing the positive side of a rather funny experience.
Whether Nelson is the worst sheepdog or not doesn’t really matter. Strangers can argue all they want about what a sheepdog should or should not do. What really matters is that Nelson made one of the cutest attempts at herding sheep. The internet will remember this video of Nelson as something that put a smile on their face.
