Teaching a dog how to perform complicated and practical tasks is difficult. However, some dogs are smart enough to learn how to do things independently. There are many stories about dogs learning skills just by observing their owner. Dogs like that often become well-known where they live.
No one expects to see a dog riding a bus alone. Yet, for a dog named Eclipse, commuting is just a part of her daily routine. She lives in Seattle and rides the bus to her favorite park daily. The bus driver recognized Eclipse as a regular commuter, so much so that he gave her a bus pass.
Eclipse didn’t become a solo commuter from the get-go. It all started during a regular commuting day while his owner, Jeff, was distracted. The dog decided to board the bus on her own, leaving her owner to wonder where she went. Of course, Jeff panicked when he realized what had happened.
Jeff was worried that Eclipse might get lost or that she wouldn’t know when to get off the bus. Fortunately, his dog managed to get off at the right stop. Since Eclipse and Jeff go to the park every day, the dog has memorized when and where to get off the bus.
Jeff was relieved to know that his dog was fine. It also surprised him that Eclipse was smart enough to recognize where to go. Nevertheless, he couldn’t have been prouder of his dog that day.
Aside from commuting, Eclipse learned a few more practical skills. She learned how to ride escalators and use pedestrian lanes. Furthermore, she often crosses the road with other people instead of zooming past them. Eventually, these skills made her famous, earning her an invitation to appear in a local television commercial.
Eclipse is treated like a minor celebrity in Seattle. People recognize her when she commutes and often approach and pet her. Eclipse enjoys the attention, and her owner is also happy with the current situation.
