Like human mothers, mother dogs have strong maternal instincts. They will do whatever is necessary to protect and care for their puppies. One mother dog even engaged in combat with a baboon to protect her babies.
As a mother dog, Lulu’s life was never that simple. Each time she became pregnant, her cruel owner abandoned her. Later, the owner would come back, but not to care for Lulu, but to gather all of her puppies and sell them. This was the pattern that continued to happen, which was not good for Lulu.
The situation for Lulu changed drastically when a baboon attacked her and her pups. She had to fight back to defend her children, resulting in a large cut on her thighs. She needed immediate medical attention to prevent the injury from becoming worse.
Dog rescue organization Sidewalk Specials realized what had happened to Lulu and promptly hurried to help her. The momma dog and her four puppies – Bananarama, Sheep, Daphne, and Scooby – were brought to the veterinarian. During this time, Lulu realized that she had left her life of suffering and that a bright future was ahead for them.
The veterinarian treated Lulu’s wounds and spayed her. Her puppies also received a lot of care and attention as she recuperated. Lulu and her new puppies appeared to be in a much better position this time.
Lulu was adopted by a loving family after receiving treatment. Her waving tail indicated her appreciation for the rescuers who saved her and her puppies.
Bananarama, Sheep, Daphne, and Scooby continue to await the arrival of their potential new owners who will provide them with permanent homes and loving families. They are already eight weeks old and look healthy and clean. Until they are adopted, they are looked after by Sidewalk Special.
