How often do you think people would stop what they’re doing to help a missing dog? Few people really care if there are stray dogs roaming the streets. However, every now and then, a good guy, like firefighter Maxx Powell, will step forward and do the right thing.
Maxx was driving home one day when he had to pull over next to a railroad track. He then came to a complete halt when he noticed a husky wandering around on its own, and he felt compelled to save it.
He had expected the dog to flee, but the exact opposite happened. The dog clung to him and walked behind him to his car.
Maxx drove to a clinic and arrived just as it was about to close. He needed to see if the dog was microchipped. He also wanted to make sure that keeping it for a while was okay.
The veterinarian informed Maxx that the dog did not have a microchip and that it was a female dog.
The husky was brought to Maxx’s house and it socialized with the other dogs there. Maxx’s wife and baby were also introduced to the dog. She got along well with the other dogs and gave Maxx’s wife a favorable first impression.
Maxx really wished that he could keep the precious dog, but he couldn’t since their house didn’t have room for one more. He had to use social media to locate the husky’s owner. He could, at the very least, spend more time with the dog until her true owner arrived.
One day, the time came for Maxx to return the husky. Her owner texted Maxx and set up a pickup time. Maxx felt it was the proper thing to do, but it was a bittersweet moment for him. From the minute he discovered the dog, he knew that it was the best thing to do for everyone.
