A college student in Stillwater, Oklahoma received the greatest Christmas surprise. The dog that she had been caring for at the local shelter was unexpectedly delivered to her doorstep on Christmas morning.
Hallee Fuqua, a sophomore at Oklahoma State University, stated that she had requested for a dog for Christmas for many years. Her parents persuaded her to wait until she graduated from Oklahoma State University. Therefore, Hallee chose to volunteer at the Stillwater Humane Society so she could spend time with all the dogs.
Hallee quickly developed a relationship with one of the dogs named Rambo. Rambo, a two-year-old hound mix, was rescued as a stray by the Humane Society. Director of the Stillwater Humane Society Jackie Ross-Guerrero said that Rambo would be tough to place in a permanent home. He was not a puppy, but an adult dog. He already weighed over 70 pounds and had the appearance of a pit bull but Hallee said that he was not aggressive.
Hallee began sending her parents images and videos of her with Rambo. At that point, Jessica, Hallee’s mother, had a change of heart. Jessica believed that Rambo was the ideal pet for Hallee and belonged in their household. Soon, Hallee’s parents began preparing to adopt the dog in secret.
The Fuquas kept the adoption a secret from Hallee for several weeks. When someone inquired about adopting Rambo, Jackie Ross-Guerrero informed them that he had already been adopted. Hallee was heartbroken when she heard this. A part of her was pleased that Rambo would have a home, but another part of her regretted that she would not be seeing her dog friend anymore.
Halle soon discovered that her family had adopted Rambo. Rambo waited with Hallee’s father for the college student to open the front door while wearing reindeer antlers. Upon seeing Rambo, she was beyond ecstatic – her wish had finally come true. What a fantastic Christmas gift!
